The only requirement is your touch screen Pocket PC or any Windows Mobile device and possibility to switch it on! (Don’t draw under waterfall or while driving your car ;)

How to use Pencil Box Deluxe

First of all, you need to install Pencil Box Deluxe into your phone/PocketPC. The installation process is easy – just follow onscreen instructions. After
installation, open Programs group in you Windows Mobile (Pocket PC) and tap Pencil Box Deluxe icon. The program will load and you’ll see canvas and the following items:

  • 5 slots for pencil boxes storing: Tap Magic Wand icon in the upper-left corner to access slots dialog box. Select a slot and save, load or exchange your main pencil box with selected one.
  • 8 pencils: Tap a pencil you want to draw. The active pencil moves above the others, so you always can see what pencil is active. To color active pencil, tap it again. The color palette will appear. Select a color from palette – and see the pencil repainted with that color! You may also select another
    pencil and set its new color, too. Tap OK when you are done with palette.
  • Paper: Tap this item and Paper Texture Dialog will appear. There you’ll be able to select a paper to draw on. Tap Ok when you’re ready.
  • Eraser: Tap eraser to activate it. When active, eraser will move itself
    left-right-up-down. To deactivate eraser, tap a pencil.
  • Clear canvas icon: To clear canvas, tap this icon. You will be asked for confirmation. Then, you will be able to select a color for new canvas.
    Note that only current page will be cleared!
  • Save As button – tap it to save your drawing to separate bitmap file. Save As dialogue will appear. There you will be able to enter a file name (or use auto-generated one) and tap OK to save the file.*
  • Page number: Tap the page number to switch to the next page. If the current page is the last one, you’ll be switched to the first page.
  • Pencil size: Tap to change pencil size. The current pencil size is shown as a dot and marked as a pixel size number below. There are four sizes to choose from: the first (1) is for hard pencil drawing thin hard line and four (4) is for soft thick trail.
  • Pressure: Tap to change drawing pressure.
  • Exit icon: Tap the red exit button to exit application. All changed pages will be saved.

Hardware buttons functions

  • up: Switch to previous page.
  • down: Switch to next page.
  • left: Show/hide onscreen controls: pencils, eraser, etc.

How and where the canvas is auto-saved

Pencil Box Deluxe automatically saves the canvas to bitmap (BMP) files. The files are named as “PencilBoxDL1.bmp”, “PencilBoxDL2.bmp”, “PencilBoxDL3.bmp”, and so on. Files are stored in “My Documents” folder on your Pocket PC.

Whenever you need to access, copy or rename them , you should use your favorite File Explorer and go to My Documents – the Pencil Box Deluxe canvas files are always there.
